About this chord
The add9 chord adds the ninth (second at the octave) to the major triad without a seventh, creating a bright, extended color. Very popular in pop and acoustic rock, the open Gadd9 and Dadd9 shapes with resonant open strings are instantly recognizable. It enriches without adding harmonic weight.
