About this scale
Ionian #5 is a major mode with an augmented 5th that creates an unusual tension. On guitar, it works over augmented Maj7#5 chords and allows phrases that wrong-foot ears accustomed to the standard Ionian sound. Its #5 creates a very recognizable color in chromatic progressions.
