About this chord
The 7♯11 chord (Lydian dominant) is the Lydian Mixolydian mode chord. Its augmented fourth and minor seventh coexist in a sophisticated double dissonance. Thelonious Monk and Bill Evans popularized it. On guitar, quartal voicings are particularly suited to maximize its tonal ambiguity.
