About this chord
The 6/9 chord adds both the sixth and ninth to the major triad without a seventh. Its open, slightly suspended quality is a signature of funk and jazz. Prince and Stevie Wonder made it central to their harmonic language. On guitar, drop-2 voicings are particularly effective.
