About this scale

The Phrygian dominant is the sound of flamenco and neoclassical metal on guitar. Paco de Lucía, Yngwie Malmsteen, and progressive metal guitarists have made it their signature. Its minor 2nd and major 3rd create immediate dramatic tension. In flamenco it structures the most expressive falsetas; in metal it produces the darkest, most dramatic riffs.
