About this scale
The half-diminished scale (= Locrian) is used over iiø7 chords in jazz ii-V-i cadences in minor. On guitar, it appears in jazz standard progressions (Autumn Leaves, All The Things You Are). Its b5 creates tension that immediately calls for resolution toward the dominant.
