About this scale
The Hijaz maqam gives guitar an immediately recognizable Middle Eastern sound. Its augmented second between the b2 and the major 3rd is central to flamenco, Arabic music, and some metal styles. Very close to Phrygian dominant, it is exploited by many fusion and world-music guitarists.
