About this scale
The Kurd maqam is very close to the Phrygian mode, making it accessible to guitarists accustomed to metal and rock contexts. Present in Kurdish, Arabic, and Turkish music for dark and expressive phrases. Its minor 2nd brings it close to Phrygian while giving it a slightly different color in its ornaments.
