About this scale
The Lydian mode with its augmented 4th sounds dreamy and ethereal on guitar. Steve Vai and Joe Satriani elevated it to signature status in fusion and instrumental rock. It works beautifully over Maj7#11 chords and creates floating atmospheres widely used in film music. On the fretboard, the #4 is easy to spot compared to the standard major scale.
