About this scale

The overtone scale (identical to Lydian dominant) reflects the natural harmonic series. Its #4 and b7 give it both Lydian brightness and Mixolydian tension. Béla Bartók used it extensively, and it is valuable in jazz for dominant chords with a Lydian color.
